Field Tillage: Chisel Plow

Chisel PlowThe Bigham Brothers line of Chisel Plows offers solid solutions to a variety of tough field requirements. Break up soil after harvest to prevent erosion. The Chisel Plow opens up the soil, breaks up clods and leaves an uneven surface to trap post harvest moisture. A pass with this tool breaks up hard pans caused by moldboard, disc harrow, and other traffic without turning good topsoil under. Seedbeds are also easier to prepare when the land has been chiseled after the last crop. In addition, the plow can be equipped with sweeps to clear fallow ground or to incorporate chemicals.

Standard Features:

  • Your choice of rigid or spring loaded clamps: (1) the economical two piece ductile clamp or (2) the spring loaded clamp with heavy double springs for use in rocky ground.
  • Heavy forged steel shank has 26 inches of ground clearance for heavy trash.
  • Diamond mast three bar toolbar frame Superbar II is constructed with lower bars on 25 inch centers. Rigid and durable for years of service.
  • Cat. III wide hitch is standard on all models.

Options and Accessories

  • Heavy duty toolbar: 3/8" wall tubing is used instead of 1/4". All joints are padded with a 360 degree weld around all lower tubes. Recommended for use with twisted shovels. See Rigid Tool Bars.

  • (3) Soil-Flow Chisel Shank: Narrow profile will shed trash and leave less of a ridging effect than traditional flat-faced shank.
  • Twisted Shovel: Especially suited for conservation tillage. The shovel will turn the soil over, incorporating topsoil and residue to enhance decomposition.

Gauge Wheels Inside The Frame

Chisel Plow - Gauge Wheels Inside the FrameDistribute the load of the chisel plow over the gauge wheels with the Bigham Brothers Chisel Plow with Gauge Wheels inside the frame. Special toolbars are designed with spaces to let you mount a gauge wheel between the front and back bars. This helps gauge wheels carry loads more efficiently.

Eight Inch or Twelve Inch Spacing

Chisel Plow - Eight/Twelve Inch SpacingThe Bigham Brothers Chisel Plow (8" or 12" Space) will allow shank spacing on 8" or 12" centers. Shanks spaced on 8" centers with sweeps will allow use of chisel plow as a field conditioner. The closer shank spacing will reduce the ridging effect of sweeps.
