Eight Row PrepmasterThe Bigham Brothers PrepMaster® Bed Conditioner is a pre-plant bed preparation tool that will provide a perfectly prepared seedbed for a variety of planting conditions in just one pass!

The PrepMaster® executes several operations critical to planting in one field pass. Front sweep and chopper cut stalks into small pieces, distributes the buried stalks and knocks down the crown of the bed. Center basket with spiral blade incorporates chemicals and conditions the top of the bed. Rear roller flattens and firms the seedbed. The Bigham Brothers PrepMaster® Bed Conditioner is the one pass pre-plant tool that you need this spring!

  PrepMaster Features

Greasable Flange Bearing Single/Double Spring Tension Mount Twisted Spiral Bed Conditioner
Chopper and Bed Conditioners feature greaseable, sealed flange bearings for extended service life under extreme conditions. Single front spring mount for bed conditioner enhances consistent soil engagement. Heavy double spring tension mount for rear roller provides abundant down pressure to flatten and firm the seedbed. Twisted spiral blades of the Bed Conditioner give an exceptionally aggressive soil action for incorporation of chemicals.

Standard Steel Pipe Roller Expanded Metal Roller Rear (Reverse) Basket
Standard steel pipe roller rolls the seedbed firm, smooth and flat. This seedbed maintains a stable platform for any flex planter with lateral depth control wheels. Rollers are lathe turned to maintain circular consistency. Scrapers are included with all whole goods. Rear roller constructed from expanded metal leaves the seedbed in a firm intermediate condition for soils prone to blow or bake after planting. A combination of small clods and firm indentations leave a moderately rough condition on the surface of the bed to reduce soil erosion. Rear basket is constructed with blades twisted in a spiral configuration that reverses soil direction and cross hatches the midframe mount bed conditioner. Secondary movement of soil enhaces chemical incorporation. Dual bed conditioners perform exceptionally well in wet field conditions.

Field Before PrepMaster Field After PrepMaster
Before: In the photo above, fields have grown over with vegetation through the winter. This producer has executed no field operations after shredding stalks in fall. After: PrepMaster has this field ready to plant in spite of poor field conditions.

Caliche Beds Before PrepMaster Caliche Beds After PrepMaster Caliche Beds After Planting
Before: This particular field presents some very challenging conditions for any type of planter. Caliche stones tend to ball up and drag in front of planter disc openers. Surface conditions are fairly dry so the planter must be set to undercut the stones. After: PrepMaster has pressed the stones down into the bed and rolled the bed flat. By firming and rolling the bed flat, moisture is closer to the surface. Planting: Photo shows the beds after planting. Pressing the rocks into the soil saves wear and tear on the planter. A small furrow is maintained. The crown of the bed has been knocked down so that the planter does not have to move as much dirt to open a track in firm moist soil.

Residue management and seedbed preparation...in one pass!

PrepMaster in ActionThe photograph at left shows the PrepMaster in action preparing cotton ground for planting in Mississippi. Lower right photo shows a planter operating 20 to 30 minutes behind the PrepMaster. Grouping of these field operations gives this producer a distinct advantage in getting his crop planted on a timely basis. Weather conditions often provide a limited window of opportunity to get crops planted with the proper moisture conditions. The PrepMaster process prepares the soil for planting and eliminates scheduling problems for multiple pass field preparations between seasonal rains.Planter Running Behind PrepMasterThe PrepMaster can also pay for itself on the basis of chemical cost savings. In larger farming operations, the practice of banding herbicides as opposed to broadcast application could save enough in chemical costs to pay for the PrepMaster Bed Conditioner in one season! In addition to reduced production costs, banding will keep herbicide run-off to a minimum.
